Have you ever tried opening a .dbx file in Documents and Settings? It will
just tell you that "Windows can not open this file".

There must be a better way.

The contents of your dbx files are your e-mail messages. There is no reason
to open them up. If you could, all you would see is the same messages that
are in your OE folders.

Open DBX files?

Do not associate msimn.exe with dbx files.

If you want to view the contents of a dbx file, follow the instructions for
Single Folder:

Jim Pickering March 13th 06 12:06 AM

Open DBX files?

A DBX file is a database file. Like all database files, it is intended to
be opened only with the program that created it. While it is true that you
can open a DBX file using Notepad or Wordpad (by using the Open With option)
you would find the information useless to you since it is broken into 512
byte segments and parts are scattered willy nilly throughout the file.

So "the better way" is to use the program that created the file and that is
Outlook Express.
