Actually, "Outlook" email is on my computer. It tells me to insert the 2002 CD, which I have no idea where it is.... It wants to upgrade things, so I wish I had the CD.

Other than the e-mail address, nothing in the error message should be
sensitive.

What's listed there are the server name, port number and error codes.
The most import part is the server response.

The error message looks too private to reveal but the first part
said...
"The message could not be sent because the server rejected the
sender's
e-mail address." Then it gave my email address and all the numbers
that
my not be good to reveal. I already suspect that a lot of spam
outfits
(LifeScript for one?) are selling my email address as they ignore my
un-subscribe messages. They just "Unsubscribe" to verify my address I
suppose.

My sister told me this morning that she didn't have to buy Outlook but
we didn't have time to talk more about it.

I appreciate what you're trying to do to help me. When I used Outlook
Express I also used Mailwasher to screen emails to me, which was nice
because they didn't land in my email until I approved them, and I
could
blacklist the ones I didn't ever want to hear from again.

I've gone off on a tangent....sorry. I'd rather do "Outlook" than go
back to Outlook Express. Now the baby's crying...oh geez....

I've used Outlook Express for several years and recently it stopped
"Sending" my emails. My service provider couldn't help and I
couldn't
figure out what went wrong so I got talked into using "Webmail" by
Comcast. Well....I'd like to try "Outlook". Do I have to purchase a
package of some sort? Thanks.

Here is a sample error from MS Outlook Express:

| The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address.
| The sender's e-mail address was '.
| Subject '[TEST] Just checking.',
| Account: 'Forge Test',
| Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com',
| Protocol: SMTP,
| Server Response: '553 From: address not verified;
| see http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/manage/sendfrom-07.html',
| Port: 465,
| Secure(SSL): Yes,
| Server Error: 553,
| Error Number: 0x800CCC78

I have obscured the only sensitive information in this error message. For
the record, this error message was induced by using a different "From:"
email address than the one I used to log in to the server. I deliberately
picked an email address that I knew wasn't verified per the link in the
message because I wanted a sample error message to post. Also, I edited it
for readability; MSOE doesn't place the parts on separate lines, it just
runs it all together on one line.

I already suspect that a lot of spam outfits (LifeScript for one?) are selling my email
address as they ignore my un-subscribe messages. They just "Unsubscribe" to verify my
address I suppose.

It is common knowledge that many spammers do not honor unsubscribe requests,
treating them as verification that an email address belongs to a "spam
reader".

My sister told me this morning that she didn't have to buy Outlook but
we didn't have time to talk more about it.

Some employers provide MS Outlook as part of a package for use by employees
who work from home. In such cases, employer has paid Microsoft for the
license. If you aren't employed by such a company, you have to pay. Some
schools offer student discounts on MS products.

Comcast has the propensity to put a port 25 block on user modems for the
flimsiest of reasons. The solution is to use port 587 instead. This change
requires authentication, so you will need to mark that box in the server
section. Just the one labeled, "My server requires authentication". Your
user ID is your Comcast user name, without the ' part.
