Hi All,

I contacted Norton about the problem, they uninstalled the version that
I
had and installed the 2009 version. This solved the problem.
I would recommend anyone with this problem to contact Norton support on
their live chat about it.
I found them very helpfull.

I'm having the EXACT same problem. I have OE6 and Norton AV 2008. It
doesn't
matter if I'm opening an attachment or saving an attachment to
disk....
every
2nd time causes OE6 to crash. Any type of 2nd attacment causes a
crash,
Word,
Excel, ppt, pdf, jpg, you name the file type.

Delete your TIFs and if that doesn't help, try getting rid of
Norton.
It has
never played well with OE.

For IE6:

Clear the Temporary Internet Files: In IE | Tools | Internet Options
|
Delete Files button. And check the box to Delete Offline content.

For IE7:

Tools | Internet Options | General Tab | Browsing History | Delete
Temporary
Internet Files.

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039

Symantec uninstaller may not finish the job:
http://windowssecrets.com/comp/080207#story1

I would suggest either Avast, (freeware), or NOD32, (not free).

In the case of Avast, choose Custom Installation and under Resident
Protection, uncheck: Internet Mail and Outlook/Exchange.

Avast:

NOD32:

Hi Bruce the error message is "AppName: msimn.exe AppVer:
6.0.2900.5512
ModName: officeav.dll ModVer: 15.5.0.23 Offset: 000055e1"

It occurs when I open the the 2nd email with an attachment, it
makes
no
difference which email it is once there is an attachment with the
email or
what type of an attachment is it. I opened a word doc on the 1st
email now
and when I tried to open a JPEG attachment on the 2nd email it OE
crashed
giving the above message asking whether I want to send the report
to
microsoft, which I have done a number of times.
As i said before this just started happening in the last week. I
am
running
the same Norton antivirus programme at the time.

Make sure you are /not/ scanning e-mail in Norton.

Please post the error message in its entirety. You can left click
on
it
to
highlight and then right click to copy and then paste it into
this
thread.

Yes, I was able to fix the same problem based on a previous e-mail sent by a
discussion participant. I went into my Norton Security and disabled:
"Scanning for Microsoft Office Documents / Real Time Protection / General
Settings / How to Keep MS Office Documents Protected / Turn On Scanning for
MS Office Documents (requires MS Office 2000 or later).
