OE "Hangs" when I Open it
Hi Team
I have recently installed Nortons Internet Security which seems to have affected OE. When I open OE it appears to 'freeze', it downloads incoming emails OK, but I can't click on any or open them. Similarly, if I do click on one it takes about 5-7 minutes for the email to open. When I try to close OE an error message appears saying, "this program is not responding". Can someone please advise how to correct this very annoying error. Appreciate any assistance. Bruce |

The entire error message would help, but........................
Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. If still no joy, get rid of Norton and get your money back. I recommend using AVG Free: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5 or: http://www.grisoft.com/doc/40/lng/ww When prompted, choose Custom Installation and *uncheck* e-mail scanning when you see the option. Norton (and McAfee) products are not Outlook Express friendly, and I don't know of any OE-MVP that would recommend using them. Norton s**ks. And, it is often hard to remove via Add/Remove Programs. To remove Norton completely, see: http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1659201,00.asp and: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=878462 and: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039 -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "k1w1" wrote in message ...
