SAVING FILES for new computer

Here we go again! Need to save OE6 files onto a removable disk so I can load
them back into new install when I get my new computer. (Tomorrow, I hope). I
think that I've done this before, just can't remember how. Have sat here for
awhile and tried this and that, but can't quite get it. Have exported files
to Outlook, but need to save elsewhere. Have got my address book exported.
What about the "saved items" file that incldes my important stuff?
Question: If I network my two computers (both with XP SP2), will that be
alot easier?
Please help, Peter in SLC.

Exporting the current OE data to OL isn't going to help...unless you then
import the data into OL on the new machine and then import the OL data into
OE (and I wouldn't do that if I were you).

I would STRONGLY recommend emptying Deleted Items and Sent Items folders and
then compacting all OE folders
(http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm#compact) prior to creating your
backup!

SAVING FILES for new computer

If you open OE, and then to TOOL menu, then to "Options".
Now go to the Maintenance Tab, and click on the "Store Folder" button.
Now highlight the entire line in the windows box and press Ctrl+C to save this location.
Go to the Start Button and choose "Run"
click in the Run box and press Ctrl+V to paste the storage address. Then click OK.
Now you are in the window that has all of your mail folders.
Click the up-folder tool to get to holding folder for these DBX files.
Save the entire folder to a removable drive. (Folder should be titled "Outlook Express")
