Default Outlook Express NewsSto msimn.exe

I started getting the below error a couple weeks ago. Googled and found a
few possibles, but nothing specific.

Outlook Express NewsSto msimn.exe - Application Error the required data
was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of
"0xc000009c"

I have WinXP Pro SP3, OE 6 on Drive C / OE Store Folder on Drive D. (All my
data is on Drive D)
I did the following...

1) Chkdsk C: /f
2) Chkdsk D: /f
3) Defragged both C: and D:
4) Reinstalled IE (found a tip in Google to reset registry install bit to 0
to enable reinstall)
5) Cleaned Registry with RegSeeker

Went a week with no issues. Then it happened 3 times again this morning. Can
anyone provide more specific information on how to resolve?

thanks

Searching the internet reveals that this error code refers to a hardware
error. More than likely there is an error on drive D. You should run the
manufacturer's diagnostics.
I would surmise that the drive is issuing error message at rather infrequent
errors. Otherwise step 3) would have found an error while reading or
writing to the drive.
Steps 4) and 5) did not address this issue.

Try a new identity.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main
Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it.
If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old
identity and delete it.

Have you used the registry cleaner before? They often cause more problems
than they cure. See this archived thread.

Read this before running a registry cleaner. See if you still want to.
