Can't find any information on this problem so hope someone can help.
I have two addresses, my main one is shown as my default, but all e-mails are now going to the other address, though coming in on my default inbox. I have checked Tools, Options, and the correct address is checked as default. I have also lost a few e-mails sent to my default address, but in the main I am getting the e-mails. I have contacted my server and they say its a Microsoft problem as everything looks OK at their end. This is a minor annoying problem and if it hadn't been for losing a few e-mails I wouldn't have been too worried, but it could get a serious problem and I would like to correct it. Rohaise |

When you create a new message, what address shows in the From field?
Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | General. Is there a Reply Address? Remove it. Please define"going to the other address". A different identity, or a different user created Inbox in the same identity. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Rohaise" wrote in message ... Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1) when
posting to this newsgroup. Are both addresses aliases for the same mailbox? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Rohaise wrote: Can't find any information on this problem so hope someone can help. I'm using Windows XP with SP3.
I have 2 names on the same address, a virgin.net one The second one was created so I could receive e-mails connected with a charity job I do, and for which I did not want to use my name. Like most virgin.net addresses my main e-mail uses my name. It has all worked fine until the weekend when suddenly the second address starts coming into my main In Box and all outgoing e-mails go from my second address. Some e-mails have gone astray, but at present I appear to be getting e-mails sent to both addresses. It's more an organisational annoyance. When I create a new e-mail the main address comes up in the From field. When I click Reply then the second address comes up. I checked Tools/Accounts/Properties/General. No, there is no reply address, only the second e-mail address in the E-mail address box. The accounts are alias for one mailbox.
Are both accounts (addresses) running in one identity? IOW, are they both listed in 'Tools | Accounts | Mail' in your current identity or do you have one account set up in your current identity and the other set up in a second identity? Assuming both accounts are running in one identity, have you created a Message Rule to filter messages sent to to a specific local folder you've created? When replying to a message, OE will automatically prepopulate the FROM line with the address to which the message was sent by default. If the message was sent TO and the FROM line prepopulates with , OE sees both as the same address (since they're aliases for the same mailbox). Why the change? Could be something virgin.net did or your current identity may be corrupted. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Rohaise wrote: I'm using Windows XP with SP3. Many thanks for your help. It is a Virgin problem apparently, they had a
major breakdown the other weekend and there are still one or two problems,so sorry to trouble you. Rohaise "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote: The accounts are alias for one mailbox.
