Top Posting Protocol For Microsoft Software

You miss the point. The old material is down there for perusal by those who have not been following the thread OR who have poor memories -- OR who want to refresh their memories -- OR who want to focus on a particular statement and respond to, highlight, agree with, carp about or critique it. NO need to put all that baggage up front. By the same logic, NEWSPAPERS put the Most Important News -- the NEW News on the TOP PAGE -- NOT the bottom page. There is simply NO reason to force the alert, witting, intelligent reader to slog through all that old stuff again. Microsoft had it RIGHT initially in Outlook Express...TOP POSTING as the DEFAULT. WLM and OUTLOOK seem to have followed that lead -- although WLM has wimped a bit and is making it easier for bottom posters to switch. But CHOICE of Top or Bottom Posting for the dullards -- and taking it to the UI rather than through Registry Changes was a reasonable action -- given the MARKET, which has many dullards, who need to bottom post.
