emails are not deleted from server

I set OE to keep a copy in server during 1 day. But emails in my webmail
are never deleted. So today checks for 100 emails, tomorrow some 250, at the
end of week I'm having to wait to check for some 1000 emails to receive some
100 new.

Talked to hosting support they say everything is ok. But I have to manually
delete in webmail
emails every week and takes long time!

Is there somethign I can do about it?

Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced. (This is the only mail
account?).

You have: Leave a copy on the server checked, but Delete after one day also
checked?

If that is correct, are you getting messages downloaded that already were
downloaded and are coming in again? If that is the case, do the following.

Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced. Uncheck: Leave a copy of
messages on the server. Then delete the Pop3uidl.dbx file. You will get the
messages one more time, but that should be it. You can recheck "Leave a
copy" after all is OK.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of
your Outlook Express files. Write the location down and navigate to it in
Windows Explorer or, copy and paste it into Start | Run.

In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable
Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options
Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View.

With OE closed, find the DBX file for the folder in question {Pop3uidl.dbx}
and delete it. A new one will be created automatically when you open OE.

General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become
corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your
mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created
folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible.

After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while
working *offline* and do it often.

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are
open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the
Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until
the compacting is completed.

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as
time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will
continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and
leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}.

See http://www.insideoe.com/problems/bugs.htm#pop3uidl

General OE caveats to avoid such problems in futu

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working
offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm

- Do not cancel Automatic Compacting, should it occur, and do not attempt to
close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting
is taking place.

- Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It can cause
corruption (i.e., loss of messages) and provides no additional protection:
