Default OE error message: 800ccc16

OE sends me an error message: "800ccc16. INVALID_ACCOUNT User account not
recognized."
So I can not get into any newsgroups any more. As far as I can see the
account is OK. What is wrong, how can I repair this??
There is an exception: I googled on "outlook express" and got this newsgroup
as a link, and see, it works.
One more question: were is the default map were OE saves all his mail news
etc.? For the moment the archive map is somewhere else.
Thanks for help

You are posting this using MSNews as your news server. What news server
/were/ you using?

OE does not save any news posts, it only mirrors what is on the server. If
you want to keep posts indefinitely, you need to drag them to a user created
local folder.

I hope we do not misunderstand. My internet provider is "telenet.be" and its
news server is called "newsgroups.telenet.be". Does that answer your
question?

That news server (newsgroups.telenet.be) does require a login. So in
Tools, Accounts, News, Properties, Server be sue to check the box that
the server requires a login and then fill in your login name and
password for your ISP.

If you continue to have problems, you may need to contact your ISP to
see if some other change is needed.
