Hi all,
I'm in the midst of transferring files from my old laptop to new and would love to know where the actual address folder is kept for Outlook express. I have my hard drive in an enclosure so I can't import/export anything. Any suggestions would be helpful. |

FurlessWookie,
The address book for Outlook Express has the *.WAB extension. Also the file is usually hidden, so you will need to do the following. 1. Select My Documents Folder Options View Select to Show Hidden Files. You can change the back to Hide Hidden files later. 2. Then open OE TOOLS Address Book Select Help on the Address Book window About and you will see the location for the address book. 3. Or you can do a file search on your HDD with OE closed, for the *.WAB folder. Make sure under advance options, you set it to search for hidden files also. 4. Then Browse to the folder that contains the file, and make a copy of it for back up purposes. The usual default location for the Address book is: C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\user.wab If the HDD has already been moved to the enclosure, do a *.WAB file search in that enclosure. It would be found he Enclosu\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\user.wab Then repeat Step#4 for backup purposes. -- Add MS to your News Reader: news://msnews.microsoft.com Rich/rerat (RRR News) message rule Previous Text Snipped to Save Bandwidth When Appropriate "FurlessWookie" wrote in message ...
