OE6 for Vista

I wonder if it is possible to run OE6 as a standalone application under
Vista. The import function of Windows Mail does not support so many other
email clients as OE6 and it occasionally fails to import email messages
stored in OE6.

That may be one of the reasons why Microsoft has decided to remove Windows
Mail out of Windows 7.

OE will not run under Vista.

Windows Vista Mail Newsgroup.

In your newsreader:

On the Web:

When the time comes for Windows 7, I will probably go with T-Bird.
Definitely nothing "Live" for me.

A1. No.

A2. HOW TO Migrate from Outlook Express to Windows Mail
http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#oe2wm or...
http://www.vista4beginners.com/Migra...o-Windows-Mail

A3. Removing WinMail and not including WinMail aren't quite the same thing:
In Win7 Beta, is %system%\Program Files\Windows Mail =this folder present?

PS: The muckety-mucks running the show in Redmond these days ordered all
development of Windows Mail (and OE) stopped in June 2006 (yes, while Vista
was still in beta) to devote all Mail resources to spit Windows Live Mail.

My CrystalBall© sees all! = You will find a shortcut to install (or to the
installer for) Windows Live Essentials prominently placed on the desktop of
all OEM machines when Windows 7 is released.

OE will not install or run on Vista.

As for Windows 7, Microsoft is hoping users will download and install
Windows Live Mail (and other Live suite programs). Windows Live Mail is
the free mail client that they are pushing for XP and Vista as well.
