Hi Group,

I have like many other people need to send links of web pages to other
people.

When I try to do this I get the following;
" A program is attempting to start Outlook Express, but cannot do so while
the current version of the program is running.
Close OE and try again."

This is so frustrating as it then closes the web page I am trying to link,
and I have to start all over again.

I am running XP pro3 64bit, but am browing in 32bit and OE6

Thanks in advance to all those that take the time to give a sensible reply

David.

Hi there,
Thanks for the interest, response as below. Hope you can sort this
David.
Are you using IE File | Send | Link by e-mail to do this?
Yes

Does the behavior persist if OE isn't open at the time?
No, only when it is open, quite often an email will come in with a query,
and if I can find the answer on the web I send a link of that site. In this
situation I would have bothe IE and OE open.

Does the behavior persist if you're browsing in IE 64-bit with OE open or
not open?
No, there doesn't seem to be a problem with that using 64bit. However I
cannot use 64bit for browsing as it doesn't have flash & similar capability

Long story, short version: In WinXP x64, you have IE 64-bit and IE 32-bit
but only OE 64-bit. IE 32-bit cannot invoke (use) OE 64-bit for the Send
Link by e-mail function.

Manual workaround: Copy the URL to your clipboard (ALT+D; ALT+C), open a New
Message window and paste (ALT+V) the link into the message body.
