OE does not include its own spell checker but depends on Proofing tools
installed as components of MS Word, Excel or PowerPoint (usually). Running spell check's also been known to invoke the installer for, e.g., PictureIt (but the KB article about this has been pulled). Which of these applications are installed, Michael? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 michaelthebus wrote: OE6 w/windows xp home edition....." Of the applications you've listed, OE could be using Proofing tools
associated with either MS Word 2003 (part of Office 2003 Student/Teacher Edition) or MS Word 97 (part of MS Works 4.5, AKA MS Works Suite 99). Assuming you have your Office 2003 CD handy*, try uninstalling MS Works 4.5 via Add/Remove Programs then reboot. Now go to Office Update and maker sure Office 2003 is fully patched: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/do...incatalog.aspx ==================== * You may find that you'll need to either run a Repair of or Reinstall Office 2003. PS: Setting up Outlook Express to access Microsoft newsgroups via the free MS newsserver (and by-passing WindowsKB forum entirely) http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/ou...snewreader.htm -- ~PA Bear michaelthebus via WindowsKB.com wrote: Mr. Bear...You ask MS Word, I show MS Works 4.5 installed.
