I have received some emails with PDF attatchments that won't open. The
message I get when I try to open is "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired". I have tried saving to a folder but still won't open. I do not have any anti virus running. Any ideas????? jimbo |

Can you open other PDF files OK?
If so, try opening the problem PDF files in Notepad. The first few letters should be If not, it may not be a PDF file. It could be the sender made a mistake. These include sending a short cut to the file instead of a file, or if the sender is using a Mac, they might have sent in an incompatible format for PC. In the latter case, if you get 2 PDF attachments with the same name, then other one. The Apple-Double format sends 2 files. One is a resource fork only usable on another Mac, the other the actual data file which is usable on a PC or Mac. No, I can't open any other PDF files that are emailed. But if I go to a web
site, I can open them no worries. The problem is when they are emailed to me. ?????? "Michael Santovec" wrote: Can you open other PDF files OK? If so, try opening the problem PDF files in Notepad. If you Right click a PDF on a web site and select Save Target As, can
you open the save PDF file? Are the problem PDF files all coming from the same person? Did you try opening a saved e-mailed PDF files in Notepad? Yes I can open a saved PDF file. They are from different people. I opened a
saved emailed PDF file in notepad. Yes it did start with %PDF. I sent a 3 page PDF file(the one that I could open fine on a web site) to my email address and when I tried to open it I got a message "There was an error processing a page. There was a problem reading this document(14)." But I could read the 3rd page only. ?????? Something may be corrupting the attachments as the e-mails download.
Is your anti-virus set to scan e-mails as they download? If so disable the e-mail scanning function. For example, if you are using Norton, take a look at: How to enable or disable email scanning in Norton Anti-Virus 2002/2003/2004 (Note: Disabling email scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that are distributed as email attachments) http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...01082921552806 Also if you are using any anti-spam software, try disabling that function then try sending the PDF to yourself again and see if it works better. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "jimbo 6" wrote in message ...
