The export/import normally only works for those Contacts in the Shared
Contacts folder. If you move all the contacts into the Shared Contacts, you will get all of them to export/import. See the info at this link for more help: http://www.insideoe.com/files/wab.htm And this for using a "standalone" wab file: http://www.insideoe.com/files/wab.htm#wabexe -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Thanks. "Per Bäckman" wrote in message ... Thanks but?? It works to export the distr.group information to other mail programs. It just has to be there. I made some experiments I took the adress book and imported it into my main-adressbook for Outlook Express on this computer. I found that the distrubution groups info were there so som kind of export import worked. Then I imported it to contackts in outlook 2003. The groups are still there. I tried to examin the "all fields" tab and could not find any group info. I also connected to outlook with access 2003 and the distrubution groups info is not there in the table even if the distrubution group info still is in the adress book. It seems as I'm really not there to find out how to extract a list with name, emailadress and distrubution list. Or is there a relation betwen differet tables do you think. Dear Jim,
I am from sweden and maybee it's hard for me to explain what I need. I have a customer that has created a lot of OE wab-files for their contacts. They have also made a lot of different groups in those files. I understand that I can export all those wab files to cvs files and import them into someting else. That would be a disaster. All the grouping info inside of the different wab files willl be lost. The customer has about 15.000 adresses (not for spam purposes. Its about different categories in a special business worldwide). The wab files is different countries. Grouped by category. The country is well known. I can make an cvs export, imprt it into access and then add country info automaticly, but beacuse of that I can not export the group info the grouping will be lost. Maybee you call it info on distrubution groups. Dear Jim, PLS create a mailing group of some adresses and navigate to the "other" tab. There will be info on what groups the person belongs to. That info is what I need. Maybe OE stores it some place else but probebly the most logic thing is that the info is placed in the wab file. Thank you Jim "Jim Pickering" wrote: The export/import normally only works for those Contacts in the Shared Contacts folder. All that I can suggest is you review the limited documentation about the
Windows Address Book at this link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...b/wabentry.asp Also look here for MAPI API info: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...4aa22f471a.asp And since you use a version that may have been "localized" for Sweden, I have no real idea what you are referring to when you mention the "Other" tab. My version of a Address Book does not include any Other tab. Hi again.
Now I found some cd with media edition english so we will not see different things. If you open up an adressbook were you have some grouped people and you dubbleklick one of the people that are in a couple of groups, you will se different tabs. Maybe it should be called someting else. Summary, name home and so on. There you also have a screen called \other\. Take a look at the group membership box. There you will see the names of the groups this person is in. That info I would like to have as: name-tab-mailaddress-tab-groupname. Some separator is of course needed between groupnames if you have more then one. Maybee a linefeed is already there. Have you or your freinds any idea on how that info can be exported. If the info you're seeking is included in any of the following headers, I'd
suggest you just export the contents of the WAB file as a CSV (Text) file that can be opened in a spreadsheet (Excel, Lotus 1-2-3) and manipulated as desired: First Name,Last Name,Middle Name,Name,Nickname,E-mail Address,Home Street,Home City,Home Postal Code,Home State,Home Country/Region,Home Phone,Home Fax,Mobile Phone,Personal Web Page,Business Street,Business City,Business Postal Code,Business State,Business Country/Region,Business Web Page,Business Phone,Business Fax,Pager,Company,Job Title,Department,Office Location,Notes Beyond that, I'm not aware of any other way to extract info from any field in the file other than by copy/paste into Notepad or some other text editor. Good luck. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Thanks.
