why, when someone sends me an email with a file attachment with the
extension say .jpg and they send my son the the same attachment, does the file extension change to something no ones ever heard of which he can't open on his computer. I get the proper file extension which I can open OK |

No, that shouldn't happen. Try emailing him a jpg file and copy yourself
and see what he gets compared to what you get as a copy. If you both get things okay, then its somebody else messing it up somehow. Could be their email program. steve "SC.ATTER" wrote in message ... why, when someone sends me an email with a file attachment with the extension say .jpg and they send my son the the same attachment, does the file extension change to something no ones ever heard of which he can't open on his computer. What's it changing to? Does JPG always change to the same thing?
Some security programs will do that. For example, Zone Alarm has an option to change file extensions to ZLx where the x varies depending on the original file type.
