I burned some OE e-mail files to a CD. As you probably know (as i found out)
they are DBX files. (What ever that is).
Now I have these OE files on a CD with no way to open them.
Is there a way to open these files? Or is there a way to put the OE files
on a CD in a form other than DBX?
I have Win XP Home, and IE 6, and OE 6.

The DBX files are only useful/readible if their associated with an OE identity.

You have to copy the CD to your HDD, remove the Read Only attribute and then
import them into OE in order to read them.

For the futu

Create a folder on your Desktop, then in Outlook Express open the folder
with the messages you want to save. Highlight one message, then Ctrl+A will
highlight them all, (or hold the Ctrl button down while you select only the
messages you want), Now, drag and drop them to the folder on your Desktop.
(Easiest if the folder shortcut is on the Taskbar).

Now you can copy that folder to a CD and you will be able to read the
messages on the CD by double-clicking on them.

The downside of this is that messages that have the same subject will be
overwritten. To avoid this, purchase:

Thanks to all who offered suggestions, but I still have to deal with DBX
files.
Here is what I figured out to do. It is crude and slow, but it works:
I open an e-mail OE folder I highlight a single e-mail File Save as
I send it to my desk top. (where it is now an eml file) On the desk top I
right click it Send to I send it to my E drive. Now I have the files in
EML form on the CD.
The problem is that I have to do one at a time which is very slow.
Also I don't get e-mails when someone replies to this thread, and I chose
to do so, and frequently I can't log on to this (or any other MS Group). When
I click on Sign In nothing happens. I try later, and sometimes I can get in.

You don't have to do it one at a time!
On your hard drive, make a folder for backing up one of your email folders (say the inbox).
Open this folder only.
Now open your OE and the mail folder you want to backup.
Right-mouse click on the tool bar and choose Tile (ether horizontal or vertical, see which works
best for you)
Then click in the OE folder, go to the EDIT menu and choose select all.
Then drag the messages over to the empty folder.
Now you will have a eml copy of all the OE messages in that folder. Just burn these messages to a
CD of your choice.

Note the eml messages are named by the SUBJECT LINE. Don't drag two of the same subject line over
to the same folder or one will over-write the first.
