Can someone tell me if this is possible - Adding mailbox via an email

Hi,

Where I work we get a lot of users requiring access to shared
mailbox's. As a result I was wondering if there is anyway that I can
send an email to the users requiring the shared mailbox added to their
outlook profile with a link to a script/batch file/form that will add
the mailbox as an additional one under their profile. I've searched
both these groups and the web and this looks like it may be possible
but I just cannot get a concrete answer.

Thanks for any help in this matter.

You can probably add a mailbox using a batch file but remember, Outlook will
bar access to batch files or any other executable type file. Best
instructions are to just send the requester the information on how to add it
to their profile rather than have to jump through hoops to remove .bat files
from the Level 1 type files. You probably would not want to do that anyway.

How would I go about doing this with a batch file, I have a folder
shared out with all users which allows me to just send them a link to
the file.

Sorry - I can't help with batch files. I don't use them so am unfamiliar
with their construction.

I'm afraid not, unless you're using Redemption (http://www.dimastr.com/redemption/) and its ProfMan library. Some of the third-party profile tools listed at http://www.slipstick.com/exs/olroam.htm#tools may also be able to do this. But the capability is definitely not in the Outlook object model.

I agree with Milly that sending around instructions is your best short-term solution. FWIW, Outlook 2007 makes this sort of thing much, much easier.
