import email from thunderbird
I need to import from thunderbird to outlook 2003.
The help I find so far is not helpful, since it implies I need to either install a new version of netscape and import from tbird to netscape first, or import to outlook express first and then into outlook. I do not have outlook express. Why should I need to install a thrid program to import to as an intermediary step? Outlook does not find the email foders located in C:\Documents and Settings\userid\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\something.default\Mail , which is where tbird stores them. What's up with that? |

See this discussion: http://sillydog.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2062 The help I find so far is not helpful, since it implies I need to either install a new version of netscape and import from tbird to netscape first, or import to outlook express first and then into outlook. That's the technique. I do not have outlook express. Everyone with Windows has Outlook Express. Why should I need to install a thrid program to import to as an intermediary step? Because Outlook has no ability to import directly from Thunderbird. Outlook does not find the email foders located in C:\Documents and Settings\userid\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\something.default\Mail , which is where tbird stores them. What's up with that? Outlook has no abiliity to import mbox message stores in the format Thunderbird uses. -- Brian Tillman |

Actually the mbox files that Thunderbird uses are the same format that mbox files have always been - it's just that the index files have a different extension...... -- Gordon Burgess-Parker Interim Systems and Management Accounting www.gbpcomputing.co.uk |

If that is the case, if the index files have the same structure as the
originals, could they be copied with a new name and be successfully used for an import? (obviously not used by tbird) "Gordon" wrote: Brian Tillman wrote: Outlook has no abiliity to import mbox message stores in the format Thunderbird uses. (obviously not used by tbird) Unfortunately not AFAIK. OE and Outlook can only "see" mbox index files in the format that occurs in Eudora and Netscape 4.x..... You could do worse than to have a look he http://www.broobles.com/imapsize/th2outlook.php HTH -- Gordon Burgess-Parker Interim Systems and Management Accounting www.gbpcomputing.co.uk |
