My wife and I share a notebook but I have been unable to get Outlook to
download/upload mail within her user account. When testing the settings, it would always indicate that the pop-server name was invalid or could not be found. All settings were always correct. My account, in which mail was set up first, has always worked. The solution turned out to be establishing a new profile within her user account. As soon as I set up a profile with a name other than Outlook, the settings test worked fine and mail is now being sent and received. What I don't understand is why that fixed the problem. While I am glad it is behind us, I would appreciate any insight as to why that corrected the problem. |

The machine is generally used by only one of us during a session, going
directly to our respective user accounts. After use, it is powered down. Diane Poremsky [MVP] wrote: apparently outlook was confused by the duplicate profile names. Does she use fast user switching or do you log off the windows account? |
