Newsreader into Outlook 2003
I went through the procedure of integrating the Outlook Express Newsreader
into Outlook 2003. However, when I click on "News," I get a window showing files in a folder titled "1033." That's a subfolder in MSMAPI, etc. Sometimes, "News" doesn't even appear in the Outlook toolbar. I've tried resetting, but nothing changes. And the Customize option for News no longer is available in any of the drop-down lists. Also can't find any information in Help. Suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks. |

For one thing, the "Go" menu no longer presents "News" as an option, so I can't drag it onto the toolbar. During those unpredictable times when "News" does show up as a selection on the toolbar, it opens up into the "1033" subfolder. It's almost like it's trying to find someplace to go but gets sidetracked. Paul |

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch it, click the "Don't ask me again" box and then click the No button. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: "Paul Soelberg" wrote in message ... Fantastic. Worked perfectly. Thank you, Diane. But those very instructions were in the web page I sited, under "Method 2". Why did you reject them then and not now? -- Brian Tillman |

Because too many steps makes a simple problem seem very confusing or
difficult to solve? I knew exactly what was wrong because there is only one thing that causes the 1033 folder to open and a simple paragraph is all that is needed to fix it. (and it's just two words "go news" on my end - thanks to activewords. I should start including the link to my FAQ page but it has the exact same text on it. :) ) -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: "Brian Tillman" wrote in message ...
