Why do I sometimes see my own name [in parentheses] appear when I hit the
Enter key? I don't understand what is happening there.

Typically, this occurs when you are editing the text of an email that
you have received and are attempting to "Reply" or "Forward".

Yeah, there's a switch somewhere in the Options maze, which tells the
app to automatically insert your name into the text when you reply or
forward and make any changes to the original message. It can be turned
off. Drives me mental, that one.

I can't tell you exactly where it is, but I know I've seen it.

Click ToolsOptionsE-mail Options and uncheck the "Mark my comments with"
box.

BTW, I wonder who would ever like a function like that. Perhaps someone who
never makes edits in his reply (most *every* time your name appears).
Perhaps narcissistic people who like to see their own name…J

It's used when you reply inline to messages from others - so you know who
made which comment. It's very helpful when multiple people are commenting in
an email exchange.
