how frequently are you checking for new mail? Ctl+Alt+S to bring up the Send
and Receive settings - it should be at least 10 min. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: "dianaandsadie" wrote in message news ![]() i just added an email to my outlook 2003 and now every couple of minutes outllook starts downloading my emails again and again. how do i stop this? why is this happening? it didn't happen with the first email i set up! |

the problem is that I am receiving all the emails in my inbox each time so that iI have multiple copies of each one. "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: how frequently are you checking for new mail? thanks for your help. I deleted the messages in my mailbox.

I am having the same problem. I have been to road runner tech support, my
remote mail account & deleted the messages, have done a virus scan, have checked the tools/options area in Outlook and the "save message copy on server" box is unchecked, and have repeatedly cleared my inbox, spam box, and deleted box. I don't know what else to do and am sick of deleting the same messages over again. I have had as many as 6 copies of the same messages, no matter how many messages are received. Please provide additional suggestions if any. same problem here
I set up the account to leave a copy on the server and every single time I check and download my mail (every 5 minutes on every account - around 10 on different domains) I have copies of downloaded and checked and deleted ones.... VERY annoying Outlook 2000 never acted like that. PierLuigi Franchi ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Credo Quia Absurdum" "deborah B" wrote: I am having the same problem. Start with a new mail profile. What you describe is a syymptom of a damaged profile, which often happens when you upgrade Outlook and don't create a new profile after the upgrade. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
