Help. I'm using an Ipaq HX 2495 with WM 5.0 and am getting frustarted.
Actviesync 4.2 works, except that Outlook 2002 will not sync.
Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Notes will not sync.

This is on a laptop running Windows XP Pro Service Pack 1.

I get an error:
Activesync encountered a problem on the desktop

Support Code 86000108

I ran error checking in Outlook

Help-------detect and rapair.

I also ran scanpst, it found minor errors which it was
able to fix.

But i'm ready to toss this pocket pc in the trash if I can't
get the calendar/contacts/tasks/notes to work.

I'm not sure if it is related but for some reason
when I installed Office 2002 it installed the outlook.pst
file in the documents and settings folder as a
hidden file. Could this be part of the problem?
How do I fix it and should I fix it?

1. Install SP-2 for Windows XP.
2. Try posting in microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync. This problem is
only slightly related to Outlook.
3. IIRC, Activesync 4.2 is still a beta - 4.1 was the last released
version, but I could be wrong.

Looks like 4.2 was released in non-beta form recently:

I thought I remember seeing something about that in some blog somewhere (so
much info, so little time)

Actually it is more related to Outlook. Files/other programs update
fine, Outlook doesn't.

4.1 did the same thing. Tried 4.2 to see if the problem would clear
up. 4.2 improved the connection to the ppc from activesync.

Handbase/E wallet/files update fine.

Does your email work? Can you make appointments in Outlook? Create new
contacts? Assign tasks? Sounds to me like Outlook is working.

What can't you do? Sync - and Outlook has nothing to do with synching. As
I said, if you post to a pocketpc group that specializes in Activesync
issues, you are far more likely to get an expert answer.

I don't do email in Outlook. That is in Outlook express on the
desktop. Haven't used the wifi since January.

(I have DSL at home so I haven't access the internet with it since
January.)

Appointments entered on the desktop don't get sent to the ppc.
Same with Contacts, Tasks, Notes.

Everything else posts to the pocket pc. Just not outlook.

Can't. My server doesn't carry that group.
