We have auto-archive anything older then 6months, archiving back to exchange
server drive. But it doesn't seem to work. I manually try to run from outlook, it shows it is running, but when I open my Archive.pst files, all folders there but no e-mails archived. I know I have e-mails older then a year, I verified my archive path is correct, I can drag and drop e-mails to archive folder no problem. Why, anyone has seen this issue? Thanks MC |

did you check your path and make sure you can create/modify files there?

Have seen it way too many times - I suggest to my clients that Auto-Archive
doesn't seem to work reliably so they should manually archive. "John M" wrote in message ... also the auto-archive path and the manual archive path are not the same setting always.. Archiving works on the last modified date so if you have moved, opened,
accessed the items in any way, the modified date changes to the current date and will not archive. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. O.K. You are right that archiving works on the last modified date of
E-mail message. But - on the other hand - I have heard (from another MVP-Outlook) that the the date is strictly concerned with the date of *importing* the message from some sources (another E-mail clients etc.). Thus, I am not sure that if I simply open the message - it will have any impact to the archivization date considered. If it was the case, it would mean that Microsoft made a big bug when elaborating such kind of archivization. So, could you please delivering any Microsoft sources (e.g. from MS Knowledge Base) - supporting your opinion ? Opening a message doesn't update the modified date (I just tried it), but, for example, viewing the options and scrolling the headers will cause Outlook to ask if you want to save the message, even though no changes occurred. Moving from one folder to another, in some cases, also updates the modified date. You may want to read this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295657/en-us -- Brian Tillman |

That may explain why, auto archive issue.
We had moved from groupwise system to outlook, but after the move, all e-mails delivery date kept intact. So it is written as modified, but where do I see modification date? If outlook considers all these old messages from old system as new, then where does it put the date stamp, is it visible, if not, then how will I know what to archive.
