How do I open mail with an "email" extension?

I'm getting email from a relative from outside the US with the extension of
"email". I get a message that tells me I need to associate it. How do I do
this?

The first thing to do is to ask your relative what application he uses that
produces that type of file.

An .email file is an alternate file extension for an .EML file. One option
is to save the attachment, then rename with an .EML file name. Another is
to create a file association for .email files. The application used needs
to be:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /eml:%1
