Getting Outlook Express 7 but not Internet Explorer 7
Because I need to test my websites with Internet Explorer 6.0, since it will
probably be around long enough that it is important to make sure sites work on it, I have installed the utilities that prevent Automatic Updates from automatically installing IE7 but still allow you to get all the other automatic updates. However, because I do not develop tools/accessories for Outlook Express, I do want to have the latest version of that. Is there any way to unblock updates to Outlook Express without unblocking IE7? When I have time, I will be looking at a free version of Microsoft Virtual PC to see if it works well enough to allow me to have IE6 and IE7 installed, but I don't care about having any version other than the latest for Outlook Express. Is there a way to unblock OE and keep IE7 blocked? Thanks. -- Nathan Sokalski http://www.nathansokalski.com/ |

There is no Outlook Express 7. If you want a newer version of Outlook
Express, you'll have to get Windows Vista and use its successor called Windows Mail. Probably your best bet here is a virtual machine. They are a little slow but are ideal for testing stuff. |

Patrick Schmid [MVP] had this to say: My reply is at the bottom of your sent message: There is no Outlook Express 7. If you want a newer version of Outlook Express, you'll have to get Windows Vista and use its successor called Windows Mail. Patrick Schmid [OneNote MVP] Because there were multiple answers I'll add that this one's correct. You have no reason to fear OE7. It doesn't and won't exist. *sigh* I don't like it but that's how it goes. -- Galen - MS MVP - Windows (Shell/User & IE) http://dts-l.org/ http://kgiii.info/ "Chance has put in our way a most singular and whimsical problem, and its solution is its own reward." - Sherlock Holmes |
