Expired messages are deleted by the recipient OL or Exchange?
Hi,
We are working with a communication solution based on Exchange and we have to test this solution with a wide variety of mail messages. One of the options of a mail is the Expired date option (Options-Expires After). We found that when sending expired mails (mails with an expires after date in the past) they are, most of the time, deleted by the recipients automatically. Our doubt is about Outlook or Exchange feature that does it. Is this a feature? Is it configurable? Why sometimes those mails are not deleted? Any ide will be welcome . Thanks in advance LucasC |

The default setting in Outlook is to automatically delete expired messages when the AutoArchive feature runs.

Hi Sue,
the problem is that OL deletes the mail (without running AutoArchive) inmediatelly after it was received. Where is it feature configured? Is it possible to be an Exchange filter / feature? Maintenance processes on the Exchange server could also delete expired items. Best to ask about that in an Exchange group like microsoft.public.exchange.admin.
Are you sure these messages are being deleted and not just hidden in a filtered view? -- Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.turtleflock.com/olconfig/index.htm and Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for Administrators, Power Users, and Developers http://www.outlookcode.com/jumpstart.aspx "Lucas Campos" wrote in message ... They are deleted because I had activated the Read Receipt and Delivery
Receipt flags of the mail and I received an "Deleted without read" message from the recipient of the original mail. Thanks!! "Sue Mosher [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ...
