You are obviously using an IMAP account. That's the way IMAP accounts work.
If you want to hide messages scheduled for purging, click ViewArrange
ByCurrent ViewHide Messages Marked for Deletion.

That hides them the messages but doesn't delete them. How do I then
delete them.

You need to use the Process Marked Headers under send and Receive.......

BTW,
Please QUOTE the post you are replying to.

You may not realise it, but you are actually accessing a Usenet Newsgroup
via a horrible web forum interface.

How to configure Outlook Express to read News:

I really have 2 issue's but they intertwain. I have three folders. One
the default "personal folder" and 2 for work, both are used for
different email accounts at work. all mail comes to my "work" folder.
when I delete them they get crossed out, but not removed. I understand
that I can hide them, but my company gets charged for holding more then
a specific amount of email so I have to get rid of these messages and
keep my mail under the quota. I would like to just easily be able to
delete unneeded messages from the 2 work folders (it's simple to delete
messages from the personal folder it's got to be easy to delete from
other folders...) and get rid of the default personal folder or if I
could point both email account to the default, so I could easily delete
messages from there, but I won't want the 2 work folders to show.

I read through some info on process headers and ran it through some
tests and it's not getting the results I was looking for

thank you

EditPurge Deleted Messages. There's no way with Outlook to have messages
in IMAP folders go away when deleted unless you hide them. You don't state
whether or not my conjecture is true. Did you have that filter enabled on
the one folder?

I went into help of outlook and looked into process marked header read
through it. changed the settings and nothing changed, but even it
worked and I did block the messages I didn't want, I would still get
messages that would have to read and deleted.
