Cannot open assigned task in Outlook 2003

Default Cannot open assigned task in Outlook 2003

I am using Outlook 2003 on a XP Home PC.

When a co-worker creates and assigns me a task, it comes into my Inbox
and I can see it in my preview pane, but I cannot open it when I
double-click it and I cannot accept or decline it thru the preview
pane.

My co-worker has Outlook 2003 on a XP Pro PC and has no problem opening
and accepting tasks from me.

By the way....when I attempt to open it, absolutely nothing happens
that I can see....no error, no change of screens, nothing!

I have ensured that when the co-worker sends the task, that they do NOT
have "text only" set for me.

I also have a co-worker who is having same problem. They are sending the
tasks and it shows up in my inbox as a winmail.dat attachment. Yet she has
her default sending set to HTML not rich text. It does not make any sense.
Once I receive it I can't do anything with it just like rgsiii's problem.

Default Cannot open assigned task in Outlook 2003

I've read all the posts on this and have good news. Having already resigned
myself to deleting the offending update and waiting for MS to release the
real fix before updating Office I took one of the responders advise and
contacted MS just to let them know there are more folks suffering the same
fate.

Much to my surprise they had a solution. There is a hotfix that works for
me: Solution: Install Hotfix KB915490. The hotfix is not publically availabe
becasue MS hasn't finished testing it. If you are interested contact MS
again. I was working with Maggie Guo (CS&S) ]. The
hotfix will be placed in a password protected file so you need to request it
to get it.
