setting Outlook 2003 as default program

Win2k - Office Pro 2003
I have Outlook 2003 set as my default under Internet Options
but when I select file send link by e-mail in IE it's bringing up
Thunderbird (I use it for NG's). Is there a registry setting
that I can change to set Outlook as my default for this.

I've tried setting setting the default to OE and then when Outlook
opened it said it wasn't the default did I want to make Outlook my
default. I clicked yes. No change. Rebooted no change.

I also tried going to the add and remove set programs defaults.
no change

What did you set as your default for URL: Mail to Protocol?

It was set to OE but still opened Thunderbird. I think you may
have located what I need. I'm just not sure what to put in the
open event. My path to Outlook is:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE"

What would I use as the open event? When I tried putting the above
in Outlook kept opening one instance after another until I killed
it in the task manager.

Thanks for the help,

Although the "4" in the above may be some other digit. It's "2" on mine.
It just depends upon the order of creation of the folders that start with
the word "Microsoft" under "Program Files" You should be able to use the
long file name path. Also check the "Use DDE" box.
