Rules and Alerts
Hi,
I created a rule that moves all messages from a domain to a folder under my inbox. This used to work but not anymore. The rule is as follows: Apply this rule after the message arrives from xyz.com move it to the xyz folder. Any ideas? Thanks |

Have you created recently one or more new rules that might overlap with this rule? It could be that an other rule still have processed the mail, so the other rule won't process anymore. -- Best Regards Christian Goeller |

Thanks for the reply.
No no other new rules, and that's the problem, the rule doesn't process the mail. The incoming mail stays in the Inbox Any other ideas? Thanks "Christian Goeller" wrote in message ... Yes I have Start Outlook once with the parameter /cleanclientrules Start | Run | outlook.exe /cleanclientrules This parameter deletes all client based rules. Then recreate them. Before you do that export your rules (Rules and Alerts | Options | Export) so you can reimport them if the behavior still occurs with the new rule. Because the rules are stored in den pst-file it also might help to test the pst-file with the tool "scanpst.exe" that fixes existing faults if necessary. -- Best Regards Christian Goeller |

Thanks again,
I run the outlook with the /cleanclientrules and the rules are still in place. If I delete them manually I have the feeling that when I recreate the rule it will still not work. Where can I find the pst file you mentioned where the rules are stored? Thanks "Christian Goeller" wrote in message ... Normally this cannot be! Still try it with the parameter /cleanrules, that deletes all server- and client-based rules. Where can I find the pst file you mentioned where the rules are stored? The pst-file is Outlook's data file in that mails, contacts, appointments etc. are stored. For more information about Outlook's pst-file read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.pst To figure out where your pst-file is stored go to Control Panel | Mail | Data Files -- Best Regards Christian Goeller |

I guess i have to reboot and start again. I use Exchange as my server and
all data is held there. I know where to find the Offline Data File, but other than that I don't have a PST "Christian Goeller" wrote in message ... Ok,
I run with the /cleanrules and the rules disappeared. I recreated the rule that moves all the messages from the whole domain and still does not run. :( "Christian Goeller" wrote in message ...
