In Windows Explorer, enter "%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook" (without the
quotes) in the Address field. Click Go. You should see it there. Outlook
2003 does not operate without creating extend.dat.

I'm running Outlook 2003 on a Windows/2000 machine and I don't have
an extend.dat file in that directory either.

However, I do see one he

Documents and Settings\me\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

where 'me' is my user name.

Perhaps that is the location you meant?

Yup. I mistyped. I should have typed
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. Sorry for
the mistake.
