Delete recurring calendar entry

We have a unique issue (for us anyway), where a former employee sent
out a recurring meeting request and that person is no longer with the
company, and the Exchange account has long been deleted. We would now
like to cancel this request for everyone, which turns out to be around
50 people. Since many of these people are executives, we would like to
do this ourselves, management has made it clear that it isn't as
simple as emailing them to manually delete this meeting. Is there a
way to automate this process, so that we don't have to grant ourselves
rights to 50 mailboxes and delete 50 entries? For example, I am one of
the people, and I can simply delete this recurring request, but I
can't for the other 49 people. Thanks for any insight on this.

Can you remake the exchange account and delete the meeting?

Imagine if every Thursday your shoes exploded if you tied them the usual
way. This happens to us all the time with computers, and nobody thinks of
complaining.
