Multiple pst files
 

I trying to use multiple pst files. I get an memory error after two
pst files are active. There is a KB file( 907651 ) that recommends
an Hotkey edit.

The issue is that my registry does not have the \PST in this Hotkey
recommended.
Does anyone have any idea on why this subkey does not exist
here??

From KB 907651:
2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then
click OK.
3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\O utlook\PST
4. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
5. Type UseLegacyCacheSize, and then press ENTER.
6. Right-click UseLegacyCacheSize, and then click Modify.
7. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
8. On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.

I take it the suggestion to create a new profile, as per response in Jan07
didn't help?

In particular , towards the bottom of the page there is a reference to a
hotfix obtainable only from MS directly.

FWIW I dont have this 'pst' key either.

A: The new profile did not change anything.

C: The Hotfix 899340 specifically relates to additional problems
and there is a disclaimer to fixing any problems other than those
mentioned.

However, I will call them since I am desperate at this point.

You mention that you also don't have the */pst subkey.
Are you having any probelms adding say 4-5 additional *.pst files?
Do you have anythiing in the values as shown in the Hotfix?

Dear Sir:

I would love to have 5 files open :-)
I have 17 files total but could live with 5 open and
then trying to consolidate some of the others.
The way I understand the knowledge base article,
the issue lies with the way that 2003 does caching of
the files. It was a carry over from prior to 2003 and
thence causes the problem.

Obviously that was not happening in your case. I take it that
since you don't have */pst as well then you don't have the rest of
the subkey either ?

Multiple pst files
 

Office/11.0/Outlook........no 'pst' key

Currently running with 7 pst's open
Win2k sp4, Office 2003 current sp, the pst's are all unicode format (many
'converted' from OL2k)
