Can't Move or Copy Items from Repaired PST File
Well, my worst nightmare happened. I backed up my .pst file by copying
it to another drive, and Windows forced a restart during the copy when I had stepped away (BSOD?). Somehow that corrupted both versions of the file so that I could open neither. I'm at the point where I have an older backup of the .pst file that is in good shape, and I've used scanpst.exe to repair the corrupted file. I lost a ton of stuff, but would like to salvage what is still there. So I've made the intact backup the default file and added the repaired ..pst as an additional data file. I can navigate around the repaired file just fine, but when I try to copy or move items from the repaired file to the default file I get a message "Cannot move the items". If I right click on an item and select move, it lets me select the destination folder then says "Cannot move the items. One or more parameter values are not valid". Is there any way I can copy or move the items to my default file? This is Outlook 2007. Thanks! Don |

Hve you tried rebooting Windows to see if that releases all holds on the ..pst file?

Yes. Rebooting has no effect.
Out of curiosity, how would that matter? I can open the repaired file in Outlook, and open folders and view messages with no problem. I just can't move or copy them to my current pst file. So what kind of holds would there be that would prevent copying?
