Default Can't close PST files

Recently an error occurred where I was unable to close a PST file... when I
tried it I receive "the operation failed. an object could not be found." I
can't expand the folder either. Now I am receiving this on another folder
that I can expand. I am afraid that once I open a PST I will no longer be
able to close them... does anyone know how to solve this?

Not without knowing how you managed to do this. "Recently an error occurred"
is completely opaque and tells us nothing. Feel free to provide some actual
information.

Try this:

1. Quit Outlook
2. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
3. Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging
Subsystem\Profiles\Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings\
4. Locate the registry key that contains the old personal folders entry,
right-click the key in the right pane, and then click Delete.
5. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart Outlook.

Except that in Outlook 2003 and higher, it is no longer possible to identify
which key is the duplicate's.

Your profile seems to be damaged. Try to repair it with [1]. If this
does not help create a new one.

Hi Bob,

please create a new Outlook profile.

"You receive the "The operation failed. An object could not be found"

How to create a new Outlook profile:

How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2000?
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=195718

How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2002?:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=287072

How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2003?:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=829918

You could also try our freeware tool "Public Fix profile":

Maybe it helps.

Hi. I'm not sure what you mean. As far as I know I didn't do anything to
cause it. When I said an error occurred the first indication was the
message I got. As an MVP, feel free to provide some actual help.

I saw that article... but the keys seem to be different in 2003.

Thanks, that's the sort of help I am looking for... no thanks to the
so-called MVP's. I'll take a look at your tool. If not, I'll create a new
profile and migrate my settings over.

Thanks! Creating a new profile was something I considered, but was hoping
to avoid. I'm looking for a tool that can make repairs to profiles so that
may be the ticket.
