Is there a way to change the default in Reading Pane to have it turned off
for all folders in Outlook 2007?

modify the view - basis steps are he
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/grouping.htm - you'll need to reset views
so the change affects all folders using the message view.

note that the reading pane is actually safe than opening messages.

Reading Pane

Thanks Diane. I will take a look at that. Would you by any chance know why
new mail is not visable when you click on Inbox while in another folder. I
have upgraded 2 computers and one is having this problem. If she is not in
Inbox and new mail arrives she can not click on Inbox and see it. She has to
click on any other folder she has and then click on Inbox to see the new
mail. Thanks

Interesting. How is reading pane safer than opening a message?

The biggest problem I have with reading pane is it opens spam right away if
it happens to be the selected item. I'm assuming that it sends a
confirmation to the spammer that I've received and opened their spam. It's a
green light for them to send me more spam. Is this not true with reading
pane enabled?
