Address book etc

Can someone enlighten me, or give me a link, to explain the difference
between an address book (which I don't seem to have) contacts, and the
auto-completion function for addresses in Outlook 2003? My ultimate aim is
to make a distribution list. Is it possible to make one from names in the
auto-completion list?

Outllook uses Contacts
The Contacts can be 'viewed' as an address book, which is what you usually
see when you click 'To' on a new mail
The auto-complete is a seperate file (nk2) that stores / caches previously
used entered addressess, the file is not viewable / editable but can be
moved to a new installation.

Thanks for your reply.

When I click on the 'To' box in a new email, which is supposed to contain a
list of names, it is instead completely blank. Yet I do have contacts.
Apparently it is not showing up as an address book. What is going on?

Sorry to but in ... I have the same problem.

I was delighted to find that you had the answer. I rushed over to Outlook,
clicked up the Contacts properties (there are two of them ... "Contacts" and
"Contacts in Personal Folders".

Anyway, I right-click "Contacts", select "Properties", go through each tab
until I find "show as an email address book" on the General tab ... and ...
well, mine is all grayed out.

What now? This beast has been haunting me for days.

I found my own answer. Your suggestion got me to the magic phrase:
"show this folder as an email address book".

So I googled on that and I got this:
http://www.sequimschools.wednet.edu/...vailabl e.htm

It tells exactly how to fix this problem. But I got there only because of
your original clue.

Thanks.
