I think you misunderstood his request. He is talking about when you open a
word attachment in Outlook it opens in the "Reading Layout" view in Word.
(side by side book style pages) How can this feature be disabled. Previous
versions of Office did not do this.

That's simple enough. In Word, click ToolsOptions and on the General tab
uncheck "Allow starting in Reading Layout". Click OK.
