Default Outlook 2003 on Vista problem

I have just upgraded my outlook on vista from 2002 to 2003 and have a
problem.

When I reboot my laptop and start outlook, It starts up and says its
downloading 1 of nn messages but just sits there and does nothing.

If I kill it and restart it, it usually comes back ok.

Then the 1st message is repeated in my inbox, the number of times + 1 that I
have had to kill outlook to get it to start.

I thought it may be the couple of addins (spambayes and avast) that I had.
So I uninstalled them and it still does it.

Its very annoying. Any ideas?

Before doing anything else, make sure that you've d/l'd and installed all the
OL 2003 upgrades.

I downloaded and installed Office service pack 3.

Are there any others?

Did you create a new mail profile after the upgrade? It's a good idea when
upgrading Outlook to start with a clean mail profile.
