Outllok 2007 - unintentional DOS maybe????

Dear Anyone,

Out on a job and asked to also check the Outlook 2007 of a client machine
(well, this is a good paying customer so do it and be happy, right?) and I
decided to send it through a diagnostic from Help = Office Diagnostics.
Simple thing. Done it before just to check out how useful it is.

They have a hosted domain and about 27 individual email accounts, no Mail
Exchange server, all machines with their own individual account, like it
that way and don't want to change. After a few minutes, people all over the
place start complaining that they cant get their email and as I had been
fiddling about with the network, thought I had stuffed it. Nope. I load a
browser, go to Google just fine so that isn't it but email still not coming
in. I try to load their own web site. Nothing. Cant do it. I get the IP of
their hosted web site and tracert to it and it works eventually. Then, still
puzzling over it but thinking it is only a blip, I go back to the original
machine and see Office 2007 on its last bit of diagnostics and then think
"Errr....hmmm" and pull the plug on the machine. Instantly, all email starts
flowing again to and from every machine. So I kill the Office 2007
diagnostic process and plug the machine in. All well and good. I do the
diagnostic thing again and it starts all over again.

So - has anyone come across this? Is this an unintentional DOS that anyone
can now do?

Could someone test it against hosted domains your way please? Ta.
