![]() lets say I have a contact "John Miller" with the primary e-mail address and secondary . I would like to set up a rule which only applies to some of John Millers addresses, but not to others, i.e. if I receive an e-mail addressed to jmiller I would like to forward it or move it to another folder or delete it, but that shouldn't apply to mails sends to john.miller. Try putting (or whichever) for the address. I think that *should* work. -- -f.h. |

if nothing else works, rather than using the from field, use a words in the
header rule where the words are the email addresses you want to filter. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: "hg" wrote in message ... Hi, lets say I have a contact "John Miller" with the primary e-mail address and secondary . I would like to set up a rule which only applies to some of John Millers addresses, but not to others, i.e. if I receive an e-mail addressed to jmiller I would like to forward it or move it to another folder or delete it, but that shouldn't apply to mails sends to john.miller. The problem is, if I setup a definition for that, Outlook overwrites the e-mail address with the "John Miller" contact information and that results in a rule that applies to any of John Milles e-mail addresses and not to an individual one. The same happens if I try to create a new contact with only the e-mail addresses I want to use in the rule: a soon as I enter the jmiller address, Outlook overwrites it with the "John Miller" contact and it's contents. How to suppress that ? That should be solved as an individual rule for one client (and perhaps other rules for other clients, if possible without changing the definitions on the Exchange server.) thanks for your help HG |

thanks all for your help, I think I understand the problem a little bit
better now. Beside of existing tools like the below one I ask myself: There's supposed to be an event, if the address resolving took place and the mail is finally delivered to the client. Why not just intercepting the mail-receiving-event (or however it's called) with a VBA code, look up the header and move the mail to wherever you want it ? regards HG "Victor Ivanidze" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ...
