How to disable auto-capitalization of first letter in Outlook eMail writing?
When I write new eMails in Outlook then always the first letter on new lines
is automatically turned into a capital letter. How can I turn this "feature" off? Characters should be taken as I type them. Sven |

As Mary suggested, assuming you are using Word as your e-mail editor, you can turn this "feature" off. Open Word and go to Tools - AutoCorrect Options (note: this option may not appear unless/until the Tools menu is fully displayed). In the AutoCorrect dialog, on the AutoCorrect tab, uncheck "Capitalize first letter of sentences". You could also disable the option to use Word as your e-mail editor. Assuming you are using Outlook 2003, open the Outlook Tools menu, choose Options and on the Mail Format tab, uncheck the options to use Word to edit/read e-mail messages. Lastly, you can "undo" this autocorrection as soon as it occurs. When the autocorrection takes place, immediately press CTRL+Z or go to Edit - Undo AutoCorrect. This may be the best work around if you generally want the first word of each sentence capitalized, but there are a few cases where you don't want this. HTH, Ron |

Sven,
Please ignore "DL" and "PaulMaudib". They don't know what they are talking about. Ronald Nissley has the best suggestion. Since the feature has its benefits, it is better to leave it alone and just use Ctrl-Z when the character is automatically capitalized. A lot of people who do not Explore Outlook's features can readily assume that the feature you refer to is not a part of Outlook. However, it has been present a long time and a great annoyance to me until I learned Ctrl-Z will undo the capitalization.
