Exporting from Outlook
 

Hi,

I've been passing my Outlook file from version upgrade to version upgrade
including a stint with Outlook Express and back to Outlook. I'd like to
export all of the data and import it into a new clean Outlook 2002 file.
The export facility is pretty limited. As two examples, it can't manage
recurring appointments and it doesn't export the dates of emails.

Any suggestions? Other ways to do this?

Dion't bother to export - just copy your pst file and then in the new
instance of Outlook, just go to File-Open-Outlook Data File

Did that last time and I'll do it again if there's no alternative, but I'm
asking about exporting and importing all the data. There must be a way for
situations where one wants to begin clean.

Dion't bother to export - just copy your pst file and then in the new

Just to add to what Gordon said, exporting is a decidedly poor way to
transfer Outlook data. Too much data is lost or misplaced.
Simply copying and reusing a PST file is far better when you change versions
or installations. If for some reason, you are concerned about the integrity
of your PST file because of how long you have used it, just do some routine
maintenance to keep it in good working order:
1. Delete Items you no longer need and empty the Deleted Items folder
periodically
2. Include the file in a scandisk operation periodically.
3. Repair errors in the file periodically using the Inbox Repair Tool.
4. Keep a current copy of the file for backup purposes. Do not backup by
exporting.
