Hanging on Send or Save

I suddenly find myself unable to send or save emails in Outlook 2003.
When I hit either send or save, I get the status bar across the bottom
left of the screen. Progress halts about a third of the way through
the bar and it takes a good 5 minutes to get that far. In the meantime
I can't return to my inbox or otherwise navigate Outlook.

I've tried to work offline to no avail. I'm suspicious of some problem
between Outlook and Word, i which the application is set to format my
email. Or maybe the size of my Outlook file......At a loss....any
suggestions would be appreciated.

-Could be a problem with your pst file. There is a program somewhere on
your computer called scanpst.exe.

SEARCH for it. You will also need to locate OUTLOOK.PST. SEARCH for that
also.

Then reun scanpst.exe on otlook.pst (make a backup copy of outlook.pst
first).
If you find errors, scanpst will repair them.

-If that doesn't work, try a "repair" of Office. It is an option under
cotrol panel - add/remove programs - MS Office. Don't delete or change.
Just repair.

-Q: Have you added any new software or programs recently that could
conflict?

Come back with results.

Thanks ---

On new softwa yes, just loaded the latest version of Skype.
Interestingly, I loaded on both my laptop and my desktop. Both
computers are having problems, though of a sufficiently different
nature that I'm skeptical of a relation (my desktop now can't run
windows media; the application tries to launch; than hangs, flickering
incessantly as if it's trying to establish the stream and the rest of
the machine is inaccessible. I can't even hard exit out and cancel the
application).

I'll have a go at running your suggested app and re-post results.
Thanks again.

it's probably skype - it uses outlook contacts and that causes problems with
access to the pst. Disable any outlook integration and see if it helps.
