Reading messages and deleting them and moving to the next message

When I read a message I usually delete it. I want Outlook to open the next
unread message in the list. But it doesn't. It returns me to the message list in
the Inbox and I need to then select the next message.

If I click on the down arrow while reading the message it will take me to the
next one. But for most messages I delete them. Those that I wish to keep I'll
use the down navigator.

Reading messages and deleting them and moving to the next message

This is an option in Outlook that is configured for your desired setting.

- Open Outlook
- Select the TOOLS menu
- Select OPTIONS
- On the Preferences tab select the E-MAIL OPTIONS button

Right under the heading "Message handling" you will see a text box
labeled "After moving or deleting an open item:".
Change it from "return to the Inbox" to "Open the next item".
- Then click OK.
- Again click OK to close out of the Options window.
