Connecting to Internet via Outlook
Hi there,
I setup a friends PC who has Broadband via a USB modem (Therefore it has to go through a dialup process). They complain that when they open Outlook first, it just fails the send and receive rather then trying to connect to the internet. Therefore when they open IE, it automatically dials and connects as we have set this, but despite under the connections tab for an email account, setting this to "connect using my phone line" or connect using IE, it just does not seem to behave that way. Is there another setting somewhere or could I be doing something wrong? Thanks in advance. David |

Most routers have the ability to store the broadband connection credentials so that the connection is always on. In fact, some broadband modems have this feature as well. Consult the modem's documentation. Be sure to run a good firewall. Connecting a PC directly to the Internet can be troublesome. Tried to convince them of this. But they wont have it. They were sent a wireless router by BT but they want to keep using there USB one as they are happy with it. I'll try this as well, but really conused as why it does just not work they way I had it set. Brian Tillman |
