Just a guess...

Did you copy this pst onto your desktop from a CD?

If so, then select the properties of the file and turn off the
Read Only check mark. To select the properties, just
right click the file and select "Properties".

Once you have done this you should be able to open
the data file into your Outlook program.

The instructions Nikki gave you are exactly correct. The only thing I would
add is that if you still have an issue after following her instructions, try
running scanpst.exe against the PST file while Outlook is closed just in case
there's any corruption in the contents of the file.
